Begin with an inventory
Simple Salon is our preferred migration starting point. Before exporting anything, record your client count, active services, staff, retail items and future appointments. List the data that matters beyond the basics: notes, documents, packages, vouchers and financial history. Some records may need to be retained as a reference archive rather than recreated in Square.
Export from the right places
Simple Salon documents exports through its Marketing page and Report List. Its Appointments Report can export CSV data for the selected date range. Export clients separately from bookings and label each file with the export date. Keep an untouched copy of every original file. Confirm you have permission to export the information and check the fields included before sending data for migration.
Map services and staff first
Your appointment book depends on the people and services behind it. Align service names, durations and staff assignments before importing bookings. Check duplicate clients and inconsistent phone or email details. Avoid silently merging profiles simply because the names match; people can share a name. A small representative sample helps reveal problems before the full move.
Treat upcoming bookings as a separate project
A customer directory import is not a booking migration. Review the appointment date range, cancellations, repeating visits and multi-service appointments. Agree how bookings will be created in Square and what confirmations or reminders clients may receive. Test customer communications before the main import and plan any client announcement around the real cutover.
Reconcile before you open
Compare client and booking totals, then spot-check dates, staff, durations and contact details. Review the booking link, payment setup and retail checkout with your team. Preserve access to your old records until you are satisfied the agreed data has transferred. Ninety Degrees can scope this move for salons across the Gold Coast and Tweed Heads.
